The „Pomosty/Bridges” concerts, workshops, seminars and meetings with artists were started in 2003 by Muzyka Centrum Art Society in Cracow, together with partners from other countries. The events in Cracow have included performances by outstanding new music ensembles and musicians such London Sinfonietta, Musikfabrik from Cologne, Das Neue Ensemble from Hannover and Rome-based Algoritmo Ensemble. The concert programmes included many new music „classics”, most of them were first performances in Poland, like „Secret Theatre” by Harrison Birtwistle, „Sur Incises” by Pierre Boulez, Karlheinz Stockhausen’s „Hymnen”, „Natürliche Dauern”, „Inori”, Luigi Nono’s „Das atmende Klarsein”, „Luci mie traditrici” (intermezzi) by Salvatore Sciarrino, „Miniature estrose” by Marco Stroppa, „2. Symphony” by Per Norgård, „Violin Concerto” by Bent Sørensen, Mauricio Kagel’s „Stücke der Windrose”, Hanns Eisler’s „Vierzehn Arten den Regen zu beschreiben” and many, many others. Some of „Bridges” events took place as monographic festivals devoted to contemporary music from Italy (2005 and 2006), Denmark (2007), Finland (2012) and to music by Karlheinz Stockhausen (2008).

The „Pomosty/Bridges” concerts have been organised by Krzysztof Kwiatkowski, artistic director, in cooperation with Muzyka Centrum Art Society (2003-2012, programmes here: www.bridges.art.pl), since 2013 the main organiser have been „Harmonies and Noises” Music Foundation (programmes on this website)
